CrossFit is a back to basics, no gimmicks, strength and conditioning program. Constantly varied functional movements performed at relative high intensity are the foundations of the program. Wether you want to do CrossFit for life long health or pursue it as a competitive sport, the same foundation applies.
Why Constantly Varied? Because the unvaried and predictable is uninspiring, boring and does not yield continuous improvement.
The focus of each class is the work out of the day (WOD). The WODs involve combinations of body weight exercises (push ups, sit ups, squats), elements of gymnastics (pull ups and handstands), aerobic and anaerobic conditioning (running, rowing, skipping rope and other combinations of exercises), the olympic lifts (snatch and clean and jerk), and power lifting (dead lift, squat and press). We mix this list of strength and conditioning movements into a program that is scalable for All ability levels.
Why Functional Movements? because weight machines, ellipticals and bosu balls don’t prepare us for what life, career or sport throws at us.
The movements are applicable to real life. Wether it be in our day to day activities, our careers, or the sports and challenges that drive us. These movements are an integral part of your life. They allow you to go play outside, take on new adventure at the drop of a hat, and keep you moving for years to come. A dead lift is picking a child up off the ground, a press is putting your bike on the roof rack of your vehicle. Transference from CrossFit to real life fitness is key.
Why High Intensity: because intensity creates change
Here in Hinton, many of us cherish long walks, bike rides and powder days. For most of us these are weekend adventures, when life, career, kids or other responsibilities don’t kick in. Finding a balance between your passion and time in the gym is challenging. The beauty of CrossFit is its efficiency. You come in, work hard, and we keep you ready for anything. You give us 3-6 hrs of your week and we’ll keep you at a fitness level allowing you to go play outside and tear it up without questioning if you’re ready.
